INGREDIENTS

Sesame tofu sticks

400 g firm tofu

60 ml Teriyaki sauce

80 g tahini

2 tbsp canola oil

2 tbsp agave syrup

2 tbsp sesame seeds

¼ cup breadcrumbs

Salad

200 g Chinese cabbage, thinly sliced

200 g red cabbage, thinly sliced

1 Lebanese cucumber, roughly chopped

2 carrots, coarsely grated

1 red capsicum pepper, roughly chopped

1 spring onion, sliced into rings

1 long red chilli, finely chopped

2 tbsp smooth peanut butter

1 tsp agave syrup

60 ml soy sauce

1 garlic clove, crushed

2 tbsp water

1 tbsp cornflour

1 tbsp roasted peanuts, roasted, finely chopped

METHOD

Sesame tofu sticks

  1. Cut the tofu into 1 cm thick slices and press firmly between pieces of kitchen roll. Then cut the tofu slices into sticks 1 cm wide and 3 cm long. Press the sticks between pieces of kitchen roll again in order to remove as much moisture as possible from the tofu. Leave the sticks on the kitchen roll for 15 minutes.
  2. Mix together the teriyaki sauce, tahini, oil and agave syrup. Stir in the sesame seeds.
  3. Preheat the oven on Fan Plus at 190 °C with Crisp function activated.
  4. Add the sauce to the bowl containing the tofu sticks and mix everything together. Then sprinkle over the breadcrumbs and mix everything together again.
  5. Place the grilling and roasting insert on the universal tray and place the tofu sticks on the insert so they are not touching each other. Place the tofu sticks in the preheated oven on shelf level 2 and bake for 7-10 minutes or until crisp.

Salad

  1. Mix the vegetables in a bowl. Mix together the peanut butter, agave syrup, soy and garlic. Mix in the water until it has a smooth consistency.
  2. Pour the dressing over the salad and mix well. The salad will stay crisp even with the dressing poured over it as it does not contain any soft leaves such as lettuce or spinach.
  3. Sprinkle peanuts over the salad before serving.

Additional appliance method

Oven with AirFry.

  • Miele’s new AirFry function (available in selected ovens) combined with the grilling and roasting insert creates crispier results compared to using the regular Fan Plus setting.
  • The tofu sticks can be cooked using the same setting as above but using AirFry. Cooking times may be reduced.
